Police on Monday filed a charge sheet in NCP leader Baba Siddique murder case. The investigation revealed gangster Anmol Bishnoi orchestrated the killing to spread fear through his organised crime network.
The charge sheet, spanning 4,590 pages, was submitted in a special court. It names 26 arrested individuals and three wanted accused, including Anmol Bishnoi. He is the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
According to the charge sheet, Anmol conspired to murder Siddique to establish his dominance. His intention was to strengthen his crime syndicate’s control and intimidate rivals.
Two other wanted accused are Mohammad Yasin Akhtar and Shubham Lonkar. Police are actively searching for them.
So far, 26 people have been arrested. Authorities have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOC) Act against them. All the arrested accused are currently in judicial custody.
Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, aged 66, was killed on October 12, 2024. He was shot by three assailants outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra area.
The investigation highlights the use of organised crime tactics in the killing. Police continue their efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and ensure justice.
