Priyank Kharge Counters Yogi Adityanath’s Remarks on Mallikarjun Kharge
Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has strongly responded to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s remarks about his father, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. He asserted that his father never used personal tragedy for political advantage or played the victim card.
Yogi Adityanath’s Controversial Remarks
While campaigning for the November 20 Maharashtra Assembly polls, Adityanath referred to the tragic death of Mallikarjun Kharge’s mother during a fire allegedly caused by the Razakars, a paramilitary force under the Nizam of Hyderabad. He accused Kharge of staying silent to safeguard “vote bank politics.”
Adityanath said, “Khargeji, don’t get angry at me. Get angry at the Hyderabad Nizam. The Razakars burned your village, killing your family. Present this truth to the nation—divisions will always be brutal.”
Priyank Kharge’s Response
In a post on X, Priyank Kharge highlighted his father’s resilience. Despite narrowly escaping death, Mallikarjun Kharge rose to prominence as a nine-time MLA, MP, Union Minister, and now Congress president. “He never exploited the tragedy for political gain or let hatred define him,” Priyank stated.
He clarified that the atrocities were committed by Razakars, not the entire Muslim community. “Every community has individuals who do wrong,” he added.
Upholding Constitutional Values
Priyank emphasized his father’s dedication to upholding the values of Buddha, Basavanna, and Ambedkar. “Yogi Ji, take your hate elsewhere. You can’t bulldoze his principles or ideology. Focus on winning elections through PM Modi’s achievements, not by sowing hatred,” he said.
Mallikarjun Kharge’s Veiled Attack
Earlier, Mallikarjun Kharge criticized Adityanath’s divisive rhetoric, including his “batenge to katenge” comment. He accused the BJP leader of spreading hatred while wearing the guise of a saint. “If you are a sanyasi, leave politics,” Kharge remarked.
The war of words underscores the deepening political divide ahead of the upcoming elections.
