19-Year-Old Woman Raped and Robbed in Pune; Accused Arrested
A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped and robbed at knifepoint by two men in Pune’s Shirur tehsil. The incident occurred on Saturday when she was sitting with her cousin at a secluded spot.
Accused Forced Victims to Perform Obscene Act
Two men in their twenties arrived on a motorbike. They threatened the cousins at knifepoint and forced them to engage in an obscene act. The accused filmed the act on their phone before taking turns raping the woman.
Gold Jewellery Stolen
After committing the crime, the accused robbed the woman of her gold jewellery. They took her nose ring and pendant before fleeing the scene.
Police Acted Swiftly
The woman, still in shock, managed to call 112 and report the crime. The police immediately launched a manhunt. Based on the woman’s description, both accused were arrested within hours.
Jewellery Recovered, Accused in Custody
Senior Inspector Mahadev Waghmode confirmed the arrest. He stated that human intelligence helped trace the accused quickly. The stolen jewellery was recovered. The court has remanded the accused to police custody until March 7.
Another Shocking Incident in Pune
This attack comes days after another woman was allegedly raped in an MSRTC Shivshahi bus at the Swargate depot. Police arrested the accused on February 27, and he remains in custody until March 12.
