65,607 New MGNREGA Job Cards Issued in Punjab
Punjab has taken a major step in boosting rural employment under MGNREGA. The state has issued 65,607 new job cards in the past one and a half months. Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond led this initiative.
In January, Sond directed district officials to set up camps in villages to create job cards for the needy. As a result, officials organized 10,533 camps across Punjab, issuing thousands of job cards. This includes 2,180 job cards for disabled individuals. Currently, Punjab has 12,27,603 active job cards under MGNREGA.
Employment for Rural Families
Sond emphasized that job card creation must continue to ensure employment for all eligible people. He instructed officials to organize more camps so no deserving person is left out.
