Rahul Gandhi Receives Rs 70 Lakh for 2024 Lok Sabha Campaign
Congress allocated Rs 70 lakh each to Rahul Gandhi for contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He ran from Wayanad and Rae Bareli. The party disclosed this to the Election Commission.
Vikramaditya Singh Receives Highest Funding
Vikramaditya Singh was the only Congress candidate to receive more. He got Rs 87 lakh from the party fund. Despite this, he lost the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh to BJP’s Kangana Ranaut.
Other Candidates Funded by Congress
Several other leaders also received Rs 70 lakh. Kishori Lal Sharma, who defeated BJP’s Smriti Irani, was among them. K C Venugopal from Alappuzha in Kerala and Manickam Tagore from Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu also received the same amount. Radhakrishna from Gulbarga in Karnataka and Vijay Inder Singla from Anandpur Sahib in Punjab were also given Rs 70 lakh each.

Election Spending Limits
Candidates have a limit on their election expenses. However, there is no such limit for political parties. In January 2022, the government increased the expenditure limit for Lok Sabha candidates to Rs 95 lakh. This change followed the Election Commission’s recommendation. The revised limit is Rs 90 lakh for larger states and Rs 75 lakh for smaller states.
Congress Discloses Financial Support
Last month, Congress submitted its election expenditure statement to the Election Commission. The statement detailed lump sum amounts given to candidates. It covered the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and legislative assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.
