People No Longer Fear BJP or Modi
He explained that immediately after the election results, people in India stopped being afraid of BJP and PM Modi. He said, “This is not just an achievement of the Congress party or Rahul Gandhi; this is the achievement of the Indian people who realized the value of democracy.”
BJP’s View vs. Congress’s View
Mr. Gandhi also took aim at BJP’s parent organization, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He noted that while the RSS views India as a single idea, the Congress party sees India as a nation of multiple ideas. He emphasized that everyone, regardless of caste, religion, or language, deserves the space to dream and participate in India’s democracy.
Defending the Constitution
Gandhi stressed that the BJP’s actions have been a direct attack on India’s Constitution and its diverse traditions. He claimed that this understanding among millions of voters played a critical role during the election. Gandhi concluded by saying, “Anyone attacking the Constitution is attacking our religious traditions as well.”
