Ravindra Jadeja Joins BJP After T20 Retirement
Following his retirement from T20 internationals earlier this year, cricketer Ravindra Jadeja has taken a new path in politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His wife, Rivaba Jadeja, a BJP MLA from Gujarat, revealed this news on Thursday.
Rivaba Jadeja’s Announcement
Rivaba shared the announcement on X, along with photos showing both her and Ravindra Jadeja’s BJP membership cards. This post was made as part of the BJP’s ‘Sadasyata Abhiyan’ (membership drive), which started on September 2. On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also renewed his membership under the same initiative.
Jadeja’s Support in the 2022 Gujarat Elections
Rivaba Jadeja has been involved with the BJP since 2019 and contested the Gujarat Assembly elections in 2022, representing the Jamnagar North constituency. With her husband’s support, she secured a victory by over 50,000 votes. Despite Ravindra Jadeja’s father and sister supporting the Congress during that period, Rivaba emphasized that it caused no family issues. She clarified that she and her husband share the same ideology, working as one in both their personal and professional lives.
BJP’s Membership Drive Sees Major Response
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde revealed that over one crore individuals had joined the party within the first three days of the membership drive. He expressed his excitement about the enthusiastic response from the public and party members. Tawde predicted that the party’s membership numbers would continue to grow.
Veteran BJP leaders Lal Krishna Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi also renewed their memberships, marking the significance of the drive.
