Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Bengaluru’s Jayanagar with his wife, Akshata Murty. This visit took place during Kartika masa, an auspicious month in the Hindu calendar. The couple came to seek blessings from Guru Raghavendra Swamy.

Sunak’s in-laws, NR Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy, joined the couple. Together, they offered prayers and participated in the temple rituals, embracing the serene atmosphere.
Sunak’s Deep Connection to Indian Traditions
Sunak openly shares his respect for Indian traditions. During earlier visits to India, he has visited temples, including London’s BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, where he spoke about his Hindu faith. Sunak said, “I am Hindu, and like all of you, I draw inspiration and comfort from my faith.” Proudly, he was sworn in as a Member of Parliament on the ‘Bhagavad Gita’, emphasizing his belief in dharma as a guide for public service.
Passing On Faith to His Children
Sunak also wants his daughters to embrace the values of his faith. Reflecting on his upbringing, he shared, “That is what I was taught by my parents, and it is what I wish to pass on to my daughters.”
A Visit to Vidyarthi Bhavan for Dosas
When in Bengaluru, Sunak often visits Vidyarthi Bhavan, a popular spot in South Bengaluru known for its dosas. Previously, a photo of him enjoying a meal there went viral, showcasing his love for authentic South Indian cuisine.
Sunak’s recent visit highlights his continued connection to his roots and respect for Indian traditions, something he hopes to pass on to his family.
