RSS Begins Delhi Campaign for BJP
Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has launched a targeted outreach campaign to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The initiative aims to engage various social groups and professionals across the city.
Lessons from Other States
The RSS’s efforts have already yielded success in states like Maharashtra and Haryana. In both places, the BJP overcame anti-incumbency and administrative issues to secure victories. RSS leaders believe similar strategies will help the BJP in Delhi.
In Haryana, the BJP won 48 out of 90 seats for a third consecutive term. In Maharashtra, the Mahayukti alliance, including the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar), claimed 228 out of 288 seats. The BJP credited these wins to the RSS campaign that helped shape a favorable narrative.
RSS Volunteers in Delhi
In Delhi, approximately 100 RSS volunteers will organize meetings with various groups in the coming weeks. These meetings will involve organizations such as Laghu Udyog Bharati, which will engage with small and medium entrepreneurs, and Sevika Samiti, which will reach out to women voters. Seva Bharati volunteers will focus on economically and socially weaker sections in the city.
Central Theme: Illegal Immigration
Senior RSS and BJP leaders have spent the past month shaping the campaign’s central theme: illegal immigration. The influx of illegal settlers, especially from Myanmar and Bangladesh, has been a growing issue in Delhi. Many of these settlers have obtained crucial documents like voter cards, raising security concerns.
Focus on Voter Awareness and Turnout
The RSS is also prioritizing voter awareness and turnout. The BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have been involved in disputes over alleged voter list manipulation. The RSS aims to motivate voters and ensure maximum participation. The organization has urged people to verify their names on the voter list to avoid any discrepancies.
Addressing Past Setbacks
The BJP’s reduced tally in the 2024 elections, down from 303 seats in 2019 to 240, was partly attributed to a lack of RSS involvement in candidate selection. This time, the Sangh is actively shaping the BJP’s candidate list to avoid past mistakes.
