Sandeep Dikshit Announces Legal Action
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit declared he would file defamation cases against Delhi CM Atishi and AAP MP Sanjay Singh. This follows their allegations that Dikshit accepted money from the BJP.
At a press conference, Dikshit said, “Five days ago, CM Atishi claimed I took a huge sum from BJP. For years, AAP has targeted Congress, me, and my family. I have questions for AAP about their actions over the last decade.”
Revisiting Past Accusations
Dikshit accused AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of failing to act on his earlier claims against the Congress. “Kejriwal used to show 360 pages of evidence against Sheila Dikshit. BJP’s Vijay Kumar Malhotra once said a delegation asked Kejriwal for that evidence, but nothing happened.”
Dikshit is the son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, who served from 1998 to 2013. He lost the 2013 election to Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency during a Congress rout.
₹10 Crore Defamation Suit Planned
Dikshit announced plans for criminal and civil defamation cases. “I’ll ask for ₹10 crores. ₹5 crores will go to cleaning the Yamuna, and ₹5 crores to tackle Delhi’s pollution,” he stated.
Criticism of AAP Welfare Schemes
Dikshit also criticized AAP’s recent welfare initiatives. “Why are these schemes being implemented now? They’ve been in power for five years. What were they doing all this time?” he questioned.
He challenged Kejriwal’s ability to deliver on promises, saying, “If he becomes CM again, will he still fail to sign files or implement schemes? None of his promises will reach people.”
With Assembly elections approaching, Dikshit’s statements have escalated tensions between Congress and AAP.
