Shashi Tharoor Criticizes Jamia Millia Islamia’s Decision on Exam Centers
Jamia Millia Islamia University has removed Thiruvananthapuram from its list of examination centers. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor strongly opposed the decision of Jamia, calling it short-sighted and unfair to students.
Lack of Explanation Raises Concerns
Tharoor pointed out that the university did not provide any reason for this move. He highlighted that 550 students took the exam in Thiruvananthapuram last year. Now, without a center in Kerala, students from the south will face difficulties.
Equal Opportunities for Southern Students
Speaking at an event, Tharoor questioned whether Jamia Millia Islamia wanted to exclude students from the south. He emphasized that India is one country, and every student deserves an equal chance to study at the university.
Calls for Immediate Action
The Congress leader announced that he would write to the Jamia vice-chancellor to protest the decision. He urged the university to reconsider and restore the Thiruvananthapuram exam center.
Tharoor’s remarks have sparked a debate, with many students and parents echoing his concerns.
