Siddaramaiah Shuts Down Leadership Change Speculation
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah denied rumors of a leadership change. He clarified that his position as CM is secure and there are no internal conflicts in the party.
Speaking to the media, he criticized the spread of misinformation. “The media should focus on facts. There are no disputes in Congress, and the CM’s seat is not vacant,” Siddaramaiah stated.
The remarks followed a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting. Reports claimed that Siddaramaiah attended dinners hosted by various Congress leaders across the state. He clarified, “We met for meals, not to discuss leadership changes.”
Amid these claims, BJP leader Jagadish Shettar alleged conflicts within Congress. He accused Siddaramaiah of sidelining Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.
Shettar pointed to Shivakumar’s absence from recent party events as proof of discord. He also blamed Siddaramaiah for the MUDA scam controversy, suggesting it has hurt his reputation.
However, AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala dismissed the allegations. He said the Congress government is united. “The party’s top leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, will make key decisions,” Surjewala added.
Congress leaders have continued to express confidence in Siddaramaiah’s leadership. The focus remains on fulfilling promises made to Karnataka’s people as elections draw near.
