Maliwal Joins Rekha Gupta’s Oath Ceremony Amid AAP Feud
Swati Maliwal, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP, attended Rekha Gupta’s oath-taking ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with senior BJP and NDA leaders, also attended the event.
Maliwal was seen with Devender Yadav, Delhi Congress President, during the ceremony. Her presence comes amid rising tensions with AAP leadership, the party that nominated her to the Rajya Sabha.
At the event, Maliwal extended her greetings to the new CM, saying, “Delhi’s people have high expectations from Rekha Gupta. I hope she fulfills them.”
Maliwal Criticizes Arvind Kejriwal
On Wednesday, after Rekha Gupta’s appointment as CM, Maliwal congratulated her. She had strongly criticized AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal during the Assembly elections.
Maliwal had also raised concerns about Yamuna’s pollution. During the campaign, she collected river water and protested against Kejriwal alongside Purvanchali women.
Speaking to ANI, Maliwal said, “Kejriwal betrayed his own anti-corruption movement. CAG reports from 2016 remain hidden. They must be presented, and corruption should be exposed. The government must clean the Yamuna. It’s heartbreaking to see the river turn into a drain over the last decade.”
Following the ceremony, newly inducted BJP ministers are expected to inspect the Yamuna River.
Rekha Gupta Sworn in as Delhi’s 4th CM
Rekha Gupta took the oath as Delhi’s fourth female CM, leading BJP’s 48 MLAs in the assembly. AAP, with 22 MLAs, will serve as the opposition.
Six ministers also took the oath:
- Parvesh Verma

- Manjinder Singh Sirsa
- Ravinder Indraj Singh
- Kapil Mishra
- Pankaj Kumar Singh
Top leaders, including PM Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Rajnath Singh, attended the event. Other key figures included Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Goa CM Pramod Sawant, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, and Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha.
