Central Government Should Stop Treating Sikhs as Outsiders: Prof. Badungar Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, former President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has condemned the recent removal of a social media post related to Bandi Chhor Divas by India’s Ministry of Culture, calling the move "highly unfortunate." Prof. Badungar highlighted that Sikh Gurus and their families made significant sacrifices to end foreign rule and that the Sikh community has always respected the festivals and cultures of all religions. Any action or statement that disrespects Sikhism, he warned, will not be tolerated. According to Prof. Badungar, the Ministry’s actions reflect neglect toward the Sikh faith. He urged the Central Government to honor Sikhism—a faith that has shown deep respect for all religions—and to ensure that accurate information about Sikh history reaches audiences in India and abroad. He further explained that a post celebrating Bandi Chhor Divas, which included a video explaining the day’s history, was shared on the Ministry’s social media but was removed shortly after. This has caused frustration and disappointment within the Sikh community. Prof. Badungar insisted that posts related to Bandi Chhor Divas should be reinstated on the Ministry of Culture’s social media platforms.
