UP Government Resolves Cybercrime Cases and Recovers ₹320 Crore The Uttar Pradesh government has intensified its efforts to combat cybercrime, resolving 67,422 out of 78,122 cases registered between 2017 and January 2025. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Khanna stated that action had been taken against 44,192 individuals, and over ₹320 crore was recovered and returned to the victims. The government has also trained 18,861 police personnel at the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre to enhance cyber law enforcement. Highlighting key cases, the minister mentioned the ₹146 crore Cooperative Bank fraud in Lucknow and the arrest of an 11-member gang in Azamgarh. Crime Against Women Declines Under Yogi Government The state government reported a decline in crimes against women during Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s tenure. Responding to Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Ragini, the minister stated that post-mortem examinations in rape, murder, dowry death, police encounters, and custody deaths are conducted by a panel of two doctors and videographed in cases of suspicion. However, he clarified that conducting videography in every case is not feasible. The government has instructed all district police chiefs to follow Supreme Court directives on post-mortems. UP currently ranks 16th in crimes against women and 6th in crimes against SC/ST communities. The minister highlighted that murder rates dropped by 41.08% in 2024 compared to 2016. The government has also implemented 24-hour post-mortem services, allowing victims' families to be present during the process. UP Government Reviewing Advocates Protection Bill Minister for Tourism and Culture Jayveer Singh confirmed that the Advocates Protection Bill is under review by the State Law Commission. Replying to SP MLA Arman Khan, he did not clarify whether the state government would oppose the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2025, introduced by the central government. He also highlighted the Adhivakta Kalyan Nidhi, which provides: ₹5 lakh assistance to lawyers after 30 years of membership or in case of death (up to age 70). ₹50,000 aid for families of lawyers under 40 years of age. An increase in the corpus fund from ₹300 crore to ₹500 crore. Survey Underway to Identify Beneficiaries for PM Awas Yojana Minister of State Vijay Laxmi Gautam confirmed that the government is conducting a survey to ensure all eligible individuals receive homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). When SP MLA Anil Pradhan argued that the Lohia Awas Yojana provided higher financial assistance, Gautam responded that PMAY is open to all castes and communities, unlike the Lohia scheme, which was limited to selected beneficiaries.
