Chief Minister Hemant Soren confirmed today that the INDIA bloc will contest the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections together. He stated that the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will field candidates in 70 of the 81 assembly segments. Soren said, "We can't discuss seat-sharing details yet, as some alliance partners are not present. Once they are, we'll finalize the number of seats and other specifics." Talks with alliance partners, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Left parties, are still underway for the remaining 11 seats. Jharkhand will vote in two phases on November 13 and 20, with the votes counted on November 23. In the last election, JMM contested 43 seats, and Congress ran for 31. This time, sources suggest that Congress may get between 27 and 28 seats, while JMM is likely to take a larger share. JMM believes that Hemant Soren's leadership will attract more votes for the alliance. Sources also say that the Communist Party of India (M-L) and Marxist Coordination Committee (MMC) are looking to join the JMM and Congress in this election. The RJD, which contested seven seats in the last election, may take fewer this time, possibly giving Bagodar to CPI (M-L) and Nirsa to MMC. Soren's announcement followed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)'s seat-sharing plan. BJP will contest 68 seats, while allies AJSU, JD(U), and LJP will take 10, two, and one seat, respectively. "NDA is stronger than ever in Jharkhand," said BJP leader Pratul Shah Deo. "It's the first time four parties are united to fight. We're prepared to remove the most corrupt government in the state's history." In the 2019 polls, JMM won 30 seats, Congress 16, and RJD one, forming a coalition with a comfortable majority.
