Haryana-Delhi Metro Connectivity Boosted with New Extension In a significant move to improve connectivity between Haryana and Delhi, the Delhi Metro's Rithala-Narela corridor will now extend to Kundli-Nathupur on the Haryana border. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot announced this development on Wednesday. Enhanced Connectivity and Commuter Relief This extension will offer major relief to daily commuters, connecting the two states more effectively. During a press conference, Gahlot emphasized that the project will significantly enhance connectivity and reduce travel time between Delhi and Haryana. Project Cost and Timeline The extension will increase the overall project cost to ₹6,230.99 crore. The project is expected to be completed within four years, according to the minister. Extended Corridor Details The Delhi portion of the corridor will now stretch from 22.91 km to 23.737 km. Additionally, the Haryana section will cover 2.726 km, making the entire stretch from Narela to Nathupur 26.463 km long. Additional Stations in Haryana Originally planned to have 19 stations, the corridor will now include two additional stations, both in Haryana. This extension aims to improve the daily commute for residents in both states. Government's Vision for Public Transport Under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's leadership, the expansion of the Metro network is a key initiative. It aims to reduce road congestion, promote public transportation, and combat pollution. Gahlot highlighted that this extension is a gift to residents, making daily travel more efficient and sustainable. Progress on Other Corridors Out of the six corridors in Delhi Metro's Phase IV project, construction is already underway on three: Mukundpur-Maujpur, Aerocity-Tughlakabad, and Janakpuri West-R K Ashram. The Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block and Inderlok-Indraprastha corridors are in the tendering process. The Rithala-Narela to Kundli-Nathupur extension marks the sixth corridor. Next Steps Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials confirmed that construction on the Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block and Inderlok to Indraprastha corridors will likely begin by the end of this year. The Rithala-Narela-Nathupur corridor will follow, further expanding Delhi’s Metro network and improving regional connectivity.
