A 22-year-old murder accused threw a slipper at a judge during a hearing in Thane Court on Saturday. Fortunately, the slipper missed the judge and hit a wooden frame in front of his desk. It then fell beside the bench clerk.
The incident occurred in Kalyan town, and an FIR was filed against the accused. The accused, Kiran Santosh Bharam, was appearing before District and Additional Sessions Judge R G Waghmare for a murder case at Thane Court.
During the hearing, Bharam requested the judge to assign his case to another court. The judge instructed him to submit an application through his lawyer. However, when the lawyer’s name was called, the lawyer was absent. The judge then asked Bharam to provide the name of another lawyer, and a new court date was set.
Unexpectedly, the accused bent down, pulled out his slipper, and threw it at the judge. The act surprised everyone present in the courtroom.
The police registered an FIR against Bharam under sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from performing their duties) and 125 (endangering the life or safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
