Tina Ahuja Shares How Govinda Encouraged Her Fitness Journey
Tina Ahuja, daughter of Bollywood legend Govinda, recently shared details about her relationship with her father and his role in motivating her to stay fit. In an interview with Hauterrfly, Tina opened up about her journey towards self-acceptance and her father’s influence.
Govinda’s Firm Approach
Tina revealed that her father was always particular about her weight. “From my teens, he would notice if I gained weight. He’d say, ‘Your belly is showing, reduce it.’” Tina recounted a trip to Switzerland where she indulged in milk and hot chocolate. By the time they reached London, her pants didn’t fit. Govinda’s response was clear: “A woman should look beautiful and maintain her weight.”
Despite his strict comments, Tina acknowledged that his advice came from a place of care. “I used to tell him, ‘Dad, I don’t know why I’ve gained so much weight. I can’t even walk properly.’ He encouraged me to start small, taking one step at a time,” she shared. Tina added, “I’m getting there slowly, but I love my body.”
Growing Up with a Busy Father
Reflecting on her childhood, Tina spoke about having a father who was often away due to work. “During my growing years, Dad was busy shooting. He came to my school only once or twice, usually for my annual performances. He pampered me with material things, thinking they’d make me happy, but that’s not always the case,” she said.
Bollywood Debut
Tina Ahuja stepped into Bollywood with the 2015 film Second Hand Husband. Directed by Smeep Kang, the movie also starred Dharmendra and Punjabi actor Gippy Grewal.
Tina’s journey highlights her evolving relationship with her father and her determination to embrace fitness while loving herself.
