Jharkhand Train Tragedy
Early this morning, a tragic derailment of the Howrah-CSMT Express occurred near Badabamboo, about 80 km from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The incident, which took place at around 3:45 am, resulted in the death of two individuals and injuries to 20 others.
Immediate Rescue Operations
Upon notification of the derailment, rescue teams were promptly dispatched to the site. West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Chaudhary, present at the accident location, confirmed, “Two people were killed and 20 injured as 18 coaches of Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed near Barabamboo. Rescue operations are on and an NDRF team is rushing to the spot.”
Details of the Derailment
Senior Railways official Om Prakash Charan reported that 18 coaches had derailed, including 16 passenger coaches, one power car, and one pantry car. Additionally, a nearby goods train had also derailed, though it remains unclear if both incidents were simultaneous.
Response and Treatment
The injured passengers received first aid from the Railways’ medical team and were subsequently transported to Chakradharpur for further treatment. The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.
Impact on Rail Services
Following the mishap, numerous trains on the affected route have been either canceled or diverted. The exact reasons behind the derailment are being thoroughly investigated by the authorities.
