Underworld don Chhota Rajan was taken to AIIMS in Delhi for a minor nose surgery, confirmed prison officials on Friday.
The surgery was conducted on Thursday following medical advice from doctors. A senior prison official stated that Rajan is expected to return to Tihar Jail after the procedure.
“He will remain under doctors’ observation in the prison hospital once he is back,” the officer added.
Tight Security at AIIMS
To ensure safety, security around AIIMS has been tightened as a precautionary measure.
According to hospital sources, Chhota Rajan is admitted to an old private ward under the care of the ENT department. His condition is stable, and he will be monitored closely during the post-operative phase.
Rajan, who is serving time in Tihar Jail, has been kept under strict surveillance since his arrest. The authorities are taking no chances with his security during his hospital stay.
The gangster, once a close aide of Dawood Ibrahim, parted ways with the D-Company after the 1993 Mumbai blasts. He is currently serving multiple life sentences for various crimes, including murder and extortion.
The authorities are ensuring that Rajan’s movements remain under strict watch to prevent any security lapse.
