In Begusarai, Bihar, Union Minister Giriraj Singh narrowly avoided an attack at a public event today. The incident took place in his home constituency, about 125 kilometers from Patna, as Mr. Singh was concluding a Janata Darbar.
As the 71-year-old leader wrapped up the event, a man suddenly grabbed the microphone and attempted to punch him. The situation quickly escalated, but party workers and security personnel intervened, preventing any harm to the minister.
In a video message, Union Minister Giriraj Singh described the incident, saying, “As I was leaving the event, the man forcefully took the mic and acted as if he was going to attack me. He even started shouting ‘Murdabad’ slogans. But I am not afraid of such attacks.”

He firmly added, “I am Giriraj Singh, and I will always fight for the interests of society. Such attempts do not intimidate me. We will continue to raise our voices against those who seek to disrupt communal harmony.”

Known for his outspoken remarks, the BJP leader further commented that if the man had possessed a revolver, he might have been killed. “If this man had a revolver, he would have killed me with the way he attacked. But his attempt failed. He used extremely abusive language. Terror tactics won’t deter me,” Mr. Singh told ANI.
He also noted that the man’s behavior was inappropriate. “The people present overpowered him, and he was later handed over to the police,” Mr. Singh stated.
Begusarai Superintendent of Police Maneesh confirmed the incident, stating, “The person is in police custody. We are investigating the matter.”
In a similar incident earlier in June, actor-politician Kangana Ranaut was reportedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at Chandigarh airport. The altercation allegedly occurred over Ranaut’s “disrespect” towards farmers as she was preparing to board a flight to Delhi.
Following the incident, CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur was suspended, and an FIR was filed against her. She was later transferred to a reserve battalion of CISF in Bengaluru.
