Amit Shah to Lead Discussions on Maharashtra CM
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to meet Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar in Delhi on Thursday. The meeting will finalize Maharashtra’s government structure following the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s resounding victory in the assembly elections. Key decisions, including the selection of the Chief Minister and two deputy Chief Ministers, will be made during this discussion.
Ajit Pawar confirmed the scheduled meeting. He stated that deliberations would focus on leadership roles and government formation. Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister, has assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah of his support for BJP’s decision. He expressed his willingness to cooperate fully, emphasizing that his Shiv Sena party would not create obstacles in the process.
Mahayuti Alliance’s Resounding Win
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a landslide victory, winning 230 seats in the 288-member assembly. BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats, followed by Shinde’s Shiv Sena with 57 and Ajit Pawar’s NCP with 41. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi faced a major setback, winning just 16 seats.
Shinde Denies Disappointment
Eknath Shinde dismissed claims of dissatisfaction over not being considered for a second term as Maharashtra CM. He expressed gratitude for the alliance’s support during his tenure and reiterated his commitment to unity. “For me, CM stands for common man, not Chief Minister,” Shinde said.
Swearing-In Ceremony Soon
Ajit Pawar announced that the new Chief Minister would likely take the oath on November 30 or December 1, alongside two deputy Chief Ministers. This meeting in Delhi will pave the way for a stable and effective government in Maharashtra.
