Sambhal police have obtained non-bailable warrants (NBWs) for 24 suspects linked to the violence on November 24, 2024. The suspects were identified through CCTV footage and photos, according to senior officials.
Investigation Progress
Initially, NBWs were requested for 91 individuals involved in 12 cases filed at Sambhal and Nakhasa police stations. “Of these, 12 suspects were arrested before the warrants were issued. NBWs have now been secured for 24 suspects, while the process for 55 others is ongoing,” said Sambhal ASP Shrish Chandra on Friday.
The warrants will be served at the homes of the suspects. However, many have fled Sambhal and are believed to be hiding in states like Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
Arrests Made So Far
Authorities have arrested 59 people, including four women, in connection with the violence. The incidents left four dead and several injured, including 29 police officers. Nakhasa police handled 19 arrests, while Sambhal police arrested 40 suspects.
Efforts to Locate Suspects
A senior police officer stated that family members of the accused are not cooperating. The NBWs aim to pressure suspects to surrender or reveal their locations. “If they remain untraceable, we will initiate proceedings to declare them proclaimed offenders and seize their properties,” the officer added.
The police remain committed to bringing all culprits to justice. Further action will follow as investigations progress.
