Kejriwal vs. BJP: Ramayana Remarks Spark Controversy
Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of showing affection for Ravana during a press conference on Tuesday. He alleged the BJP’s “demonic nature” poses a threat to slum dwellers and the poor.
Kejriwal’s Claims Against BJP
Kejriwal responded to criticism over his “deer in Ramayana” remark. He said, “I mentioned that Ravana came as a golden deer and Mother Sita wanted it. Now they say it wasn’t Ravana but demon Marichi. BJP leaders are protesting outside my house, defending Ravana. They love him so much.”
He warned Delhi’s slum residents, stating, “These people will swallow you like demons if they gain power.”
BJP’s Counterattack
BJP leader Manoj Tiwari strongly criticized Kejriwal, accusing him of being disconnected from Sanatan Dharma. “His statement shows he has no ties to Hinduism. He acts as a ‘Chunavi Hindu’ during elections and insults sacred texts,” Tiwari said.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva also accused Kejriwal of misinterpreting Ramcharitmanas and “insulting” Sanatan Dharma. He questioned Kejriwal’s sudden visits to temples during elections.
Election Update
The Delhi Assembly elections will take place on February 5 in a single phase, with results expected on February 8. The remarks from both sides intensify the political debate as the election date approaches.
