
Delhi Hosts Grand Finale of Ashwagandha Awareness Campaign and 9th Ayurveda Day
The Directorate of AYUSH, Government of NCT of Delhi, concluded the Ashwagandha Awareness Campaign. They also celebrated the 9th Ayurveda Day at the NDMC Convention Centre.
This campaign, named “Ashwagandha – A Health Promoter,” was a joint effort with the National Medicinal Plants Board. It aimed to educate people about Ashwagandha’s health benefits. Throughout the campaign, they organized various activities. These included workshops, public awareness drives, and contests for video making, slogan creation, and poster design. They also held meetings with farmers and distributed around 1.6 lakh Ashwagandha saplings across Delhi.
Dr. Yogita Munjal, Director of AYUSH, kicked off the event. She shared a comprehensive report on the campaign’s impact. She pointed out the enthusiastic participation in all events, emphasizing how these activities have made Ayurveda more accessible to the public.
Vaidya Jayant Deopujari, the Chief Guest and Chairperson of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, launched an official video. This video highlighted the campaign’s successes.
Sh. Danish Ashraf, IAS, the Guest of Honour, praised the Directorate’s efforts. He stressed the significance of blending traditional Ayurveda with contemporary health practices for preventive care.
Vaidya Deopujari also spoke, applauding the initiative for connecting old practices with new health needs. He advocated for more research and entrepreneurial activities in Ayurveda, underscoring Ashwagandha’s global recognition for its health benefits.
The 9th Ayurveda Day included a conference on Ayurveda innovations. Speakers discussed how to merge traditional wisdom with modern innovation. The session, “Ayurpreneur Vision: Stories, Strategies, and Future Horizons,” featured industry leaders sharing their journeys.
The event also saw the release of new publications by the Directorate, focusing on millets, yoga, and research in Ayurveda and Unani.
The ceremony ended with awards for competition winners and Ashwagandha Champions, an interactive session, and a vote of thanks by Dr. Sujata Rajan.
This campaign not only promoted Ashwagandha but also reinforced the Directorate’s dedication to a sustainable and scientifically backed Ayurvedic healthcare system through community involvement and innovation.
