Atishi Takes Action After L-G Highlights Rangpuri Pahari Civic Issues
In a rare moment of cooperation, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi visited Rangpuri Pahari on Sunday. The visit followed Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s recent appeal to address civic problems in the area.
L-G Highlights Civic Woes
On Saturday, L-G Saxena shared a video of his visit to Rangpuri Pahari. He described the dismal living conditions, particularly for women, citing overflowing sewers, lack of basic facilities, and poorly maintained streets.
The L-G called the conditions “distressing” and urged Delhi government officials, including Atishi and former CM Arvind Kejriwal, to visit such areas and witness the challenges firsthand.
Atishi’s Prompt Response
Taking swift action, Atishi inspected the area to understand the issues on the ground. Her visit reflects the government’s acknowledgment of Saxena’s concerns and its commitment to address them.
Earlier, Saxena had flagged similar problems in areas like Burari, Kirari, and Sangam Vihar. His consistent efforts to highlight civic issues prompted the government to take corrective measures, including the reconstruction of the Nangloi-Mundka Road.
Kejriwal Expresses Gratitude
Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal thanked Saxena for his proactive approach. “The Delhi government will act on these shortcomings. I urge the L-G to continue pointing out issues so we can resolve them together,” Kejriwal said at a press conference.
Local Challenges
Residents of Rangpuri Pahari face severe hardships. Streets are flooded with dirty water due to a lack of proper drainage. Drinking water is scarce, with women forced to fetch water from tankers that arrive only once a week. Frequent power cuts lasting 8-10 hours add to their woes, despite claims of free electricity by the Delhi government.
Steps for Improvement
During his visit, Saxena urged agencies like the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board to take action. He assured locals that sanitation drives would begin soon and pledged to monitor progress personally.
A Collaborative Vision
This interaction between Atishi and Saxena showcases a collaborative effort to tackle Delhi’s pressing civic issues. With elections on the horizon, such initiatives could signal a renewed focus on governance and public welfare.
Will these efforts bring lasting change? Only time will tell. For now, Rangpuri Pahari residents are hopeful for a brighter future.
