
Two Arrested in Bathinda Murder Case, Weapons Seized
Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), along with Bathinda Police, arrested two associates of deceased criminal Overseer Singh. The police recovered two .32 bore pistols and five cartridges from them. DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrests on Monday.
The accused have been identified as Lakhwinder Singh Gill from Burj Gill village and Avtar Singh alias Dhillon from Bhai Rupa village in Bathinda. Their arrest follows the earlier detention of four members of the Gurpreet Sekhon Gang, who were involved in Overseer Singh’s murder.
Murder Linked to Personal Enmity
Overseer Singh, a known history-sheeter from Bhai Rupa, was shot dead in his village on February 5 at 4 a.m. His neighbor and associates killed him due to personal enmity.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that both arrested men have a criminal history, with multiple cases registered against them. Police continue to investigate to trace further connections.
Police Confirm Cross-FIR Arrests
ADGP AGTF Promod Ban revealed that police arrested Lakhwinder Singh and Avtar Singh after their role in the case became evident. Both were involved in the cross-FIR case and had opened fire on the other party.
A case (FIR No. 11, dated 05.02.25) has been registered under sections 125 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at Phul Police Station in Bathinda. Section 109 of the BNS was later added as part of the cross-FIR.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover more details in the case.
