Rekha Gupta: Financial Crisis Won’t Stop Women’s Aid Scheme
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that despite an empty treasury inherited from the previous AAP government, her administration will fulfill BJP’s election promise of providing ₹2,500 per month to women from poor families.
Speaking at a press conference, she assured that the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana will be rolled out with a well-planned strategy.
“When we reviewed the financial status, we found the exchequer completely empty. But the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana is a priority, and we will implement it with detailed planning,” said Gupta.
BJP’s manifesto also promised ₹21,000 financial aid for pregnant women, further emphasizing the party’s commitment to women’s welfare.
AAP Challenges BJP on Women’s Aid Promise
Former Delhi CM and AAP leader Atishi raised concerns over the delay in implementing the scheme, questioning why it was not approved in the first cabinet meeting on February 20.
She pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had personally guaranteed this aid during the election campaign.
“If Modi Ji’s guarantee was real, why wasn’t the scheme passed in the first cabinet meeting? Women trusted his promise, and now they feel deceived,” Atishi said.
She further accused CM Rekha Gupta of exposing Modi’s “false claims” on her very first day in office.
Will ₹2,500 Aid Reach Women by March 8?
Atishi also reminded the BJP leadership of their assurance that the first installment would be transferred by March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day.

With the first session of the Delhi Assembly set to begin on February 24, all eyes are on the BJP-led government to see if they deliver on their poll promises or face backlash from the opposition and voters.
