A luxury car hit a food delivery boy riding a two-wheeler in Pune’s Mundhwa area early this morning. The accident happened around 2 am. After the crash, the car’s driver fled the scene, but the police caught him quickly. Pune’s Additional Commissioner of Police, Manoj Patil, said officers are looking deeper into the case.
This isn’t the first time a high-end car has been involved in a hit-and-run in Pune. On May 18, 2024, the 17-year-old son of a wealthy businessman spent Rs 69,000 on alcohol while celebrating his Class 12 results. After partying with two friends, he drove home in his unregistered Porsche Tycoon around 2 am. The car had not been registered since March.
At the same time, two tech professionals, Anish and Ashwini, were riding their two-wheeler home from a party in Kalyani Nagar. The speeding Porsche, reportedly traveling at 200 km per hour, hit them. The impact was so intense that both were thrown several feet away and died on the spot.
Passersby managed to stop the young men in the Porsche. The police quickly arrived and took them to Yerwada police station for further action.
