Noida: A concerning incident that took place on August 14 near DLF Mall, Sector-18, Noida, has once again brought to light the persistent issue of women’s safety in public spaces. A woman journalist, while waiting for a cab, was subjected to harassment by two men on a bike. One of the men made an inappropriate remark, “Kya rate legi,” before speeding away, leaving the journalist both shocked and distressed.
This incident was not an isolated case for the journalist. Just days earlier, on a Sunday afternoon, she faced another unsettling experience while walking towards the Sector-18 Metro station. A man approached her, casually greeted her, and quickly turned the situation uncomfortable by saying, “Don’t be shocked. Please calm down.” The encounter left her feeling unsafe and anxious, even in broad daylight.

The journalist expressed her frustration over the common tendency to blame such incidents on factors like clothing or the time of day. She emphasized that the real issue lies in the pervasive fear that women constantly experience, always having to be on guard for their safety in public spaces.
