Congress launched a strong protest against Patel’s remarks. In Mandsaur, party workers set his effigy on fire at Gandhi Square. Posters condemning him appeared in Indore. In Bhopal, Congress leaders placed online orders for begging bowls and sent them to the BJP office. Spokesperson Mithun Ahirwar explained that since begging is banned in Bhopal, they opted for online delivery.

During an event, Patel criticized the habit of constantly seeking government aid. He argued that instead of asking for benefits, people should develop a mindset of giving. He insisted that such an approach would lead to a happier and more cultured society.
Patel further claimed that excessive reliance on government freebies weakens society rather than empowering it. He asserted that true respect for martyrs comes not from seeking handouts but from upholding their values.
BJP High Command’s Silence
As the controversy escalated, Patel deleted a post on X that had tagged the BJP president. This move fueled speculation that the party leadership was unhappy with his remarks.
Senior BJP leaders have largely avoided commenting on the matter. When questioned, state BJP general secretary Bhagwan Das Sabnani responded with a simple “Jai Siya Ram.” Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar acknowledged Patel’s statement but defended his intentions.
