Rahul Gandhi Highlights AIIMS Crisis Ahead of Delhi Elections
Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha, visited AIIMS Delhi and met patients and families forced to stay on roads, footpaths, and subways. In a video shared on social media, he criticized both the central and Delhi governments for their “insensitivity” toward the issue.
Gandhi interacted with people enduring cold, hunger, and a lack of basic facilities. “Hell outside AIIMS! Poor patients and their families are sleeping amidst filth, cold, and hunger. No shelter, no food, no toilets, no water—where are the tall claims of the central and Delhi governments?” he wrote on X.
Patients Left in Harsh Conditions
During his visit, Gandhi noted the lack of support for people seeking treatment at AIIMS. In a video, he expressed frustration, saying, “This is ridiculous. People are suffering and dying here. It’s a joke.”
He described their struggles, highlighting how families from across India, burdened by illness, are forced to camp outside the hospital, clinging to hope. “They sleep on cold ground, battling hunger and inconvenience,” he said in a post on Instagram.
Criticism of Kejriwal and Modi
Rahul Gandhi also attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, likening him to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He accused both leaders of making false promises.
Addressing a rally in Seelampur, Gandhi questioned their stance on the caste census. “Ask Kejriwal if he supports reservations for the backward and a caste census. Like PM Modi, he remains silent and breaks promises,” Gandhi claimed.
Call for Action
Rahul Gandhi’s visit and remarks aim to draw attention to the plight of patients and families at AIIMS. He urged governments to address this humanitarian crisis immediately, emphasizing that neglecting basic needs is unacceptable.
