Rajpal Singh Yadav, the elder brother of Shivpal Singh Yadav and uncle of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, passed away early Thursday. He breathed his last at Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon, after battling a prolonged illness. He was 73.
The news was shared by the party’s national general secretary, Dr. Ram Gopal Yadav, in a post on X. He expressed his grief, saying, “With great sorrow, I share that my younger brother Rajpal Singh passed away at 4 am today at Medanta Hospital. His last rites will be performed in Saifai this afternoon. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti!”
Rajpal Yadav’s Life and Legacy
Rajpal Singh Yadav, the fourth of five brothers, was elder to Shivpal and younger to late SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav. Despite belonging to a prominent political family, Rajpal stayed away from active politics. He was known for his simplicity and dedication to helping the underprivileged.
He is survived by his wife, Premlata Yadav, a former district panchayat president, and his sons, Abhishek Yadav (Anshul) and Aryan. Recently, Anshul was re-elected as the district panchayat president for a second term.
Education and Career
Rajpal completed his early education in Saifai. He pursued intermediate studies at Jain College, Karhal, and earned his bachelor’s degree from KK Degree College, Etawah. Later, he completed his post-graduation from Lucknow University.
He began his career in 1978 at a warehouse and retired as a superintendent in 2006 after taking voluntary retirement.
Grief in Saifai
Rajpal’s passing left the village of Saifai in mourning. Villagers gathered outside his residence as soon as the news spread. His last rites will be performed in the evening at his native village.
Several leaders, including Dr. Ram Gopal Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Shivpal Yadav, and MLA Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, reached Saifai to pay their respects. Party workers and supporters also gathered to offer condolences.
Rajpal’s death marks a significant loss for the Yadav family and the people of Saifai. His legacy of kindness and service will be remembered by many.
