At the Maha Kumbh Mela, rose petals rained down on devotees during their Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti. The petals draped the ghats and akharas at the Sangam, creating a serene and beautiful atmosphere. As the flowers fell, the air was filled with chants of Jai Shri Ram and Har Har Mahadev.
The Uttar Pradesh government revealed that the Horticulture Department had been preparing for weeks to ensure the flawless flower shower. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the department procured and stored rose petals for the event. They planned to use around 20 quintals of rose petals for each bathing festival at the Kumbh.
The first shower took place on Monday during the Paush Purnima Snan, part of the series of bathing rituals at the Maha Kumbh. The Horticulture Department made sure there were enough petals, arranging over 40 quintals for the first two days of the event.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, began on Monday at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. It is expected to continue until February 26. Official estimates suggest that around 1.75 crore devotees participated on Monday, with another 1.38 crore joining by Tuesday afternoon.
