ISRO Collaborates with SpaceX for GSAT-N2 Launch
SpaceX successfully launched ISRO’s communication satellite GSAT-N2 from Florida. The Falcon 9 rocket carried the satellite into a precise orbit. This marked the beginning of ISRO’s commercial collaboration with SpaceX.
What is GSAT-N2?
GSAT-N2 is a high-throughput communication satellite. It has a 48 Gbps data capacity to improve broadband and in-flight connectivity across India. The satellite, designed to last 14 years, will support India’s Smart Cities Mission by boosting communication infrastructure.
Why SpaceX Was Chosen
ISRO opted for SpaceX as its usual partner, Arianespace, lacked operational rockets. India’s LVM-3 also couldn’t handle the 4,700 kg payload, making SpaceX’s Falcon 9 the best option for the mission.
