AIIMS released a statement, confirming his demise due to age-related conditions. It added that resuscitative efforts were initiated promptly but were unsuccessful.

Dr. Singh’s last rites were performed with full state honors at Nigambodh Ghat, Delhi, on December 28 at 11:45 AM. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
